Taking a step further towards Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's 'Digital India' campaign, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
(AMC) on Friday launched smart cards for developers and property holders in the
city.
Developed by city-based Jayatma Informatics, the smart property cards can be accessed through mobile phones as well as web. According to AMC officials, the card will carry relevant data relating properties such as permission status, plan approvals, and layouts, among other things.
While a developer would be issued a master card for any residential or commercial scheme or project, property holders will also receive individual smart cards which can used to fetch data regarding their units, an AMC official stated.
Talking about the technology, Nirav Shah of Jayatma Informatics said, "The idea of a smart card for property was the brainchild of the municipal commissioner. The idea is to make property related information and data easy and accessible. With the mobile and Internet penetration increasing, it was necessary to embed the card with multiple facilities to access data."
